Itchgrass (Rottboelia exaltata L.f.) is a weed that presented fast dissemination in sugarcane fields in Brazil, causing significant yield losses to the crop. Therefore, this research had the objective of evaluating the susceptibility of the weed itchgrass to imazapic when applied in pre-emergence using dose-response curves. The experiments were carried out in randomized blocks experimental design with four replications in a factorial arrangement between two soil (clayey-sandy and sandy) and nine rates of imazapic. The herbicide rates were: 0; 9.19; […]

Knowledge on changes in weeds communities caused by weeds management practices is important when effective strategies for the control of these species are set. A field experiment was conducted to assess the effects of herbicides applications with different sprayer boom heights on the weeds dynamics and beans yield. A 3×4+1 factorial arrangement was adopted, comprised of the combination of three herbicides (fomesafen. fluazifop-p-butyl and a mixture of both) and four different boom heights (0.20; 0.30; 0.40 and 0.50 m above […]

Soybean is the most important leguminous species worldwide and therefore investments in technologies are needed to increase productivity and reduce adverse factors to the crop. In Southern Brazil, there are often problems caused by lodging of plants from some soybean cultivars. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of application of Protoporfirinogênio Oxidase (PROTOX) inhibitors herbicides on development, yield and components and plant lodging on the cultivar CD 214 RR. The experiment was conducted under field, in randomized block design […]

Cassava has a long cycle and slow initial growth, which facilitates development of weeds that will compete with the culture. It was aimed to evaluate the tolerance of cassava cultivar Aciolina, the different herbicides in the early stages of crop development. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, in a completely randomized design with four replications. The evaluated treatments were: haloxyfop (60 g ha-1 a.i.), lactofen (180 g ha-1 a.i.), chorimuron-ethyl (17.5 g ha-1 a.i.), bentazon (576 g ha-1 a.i.), […]

The emergence of resistant weeds has increased costs and affected the production of crops for weed interference with cultivation and loss of effectiveness of herbicides widely used with large spectrums control and low cost, such as glyphosate. Thus, the study aimed to identify populations of C. polydactyla resistant or differential susceptibility to the herbicide glyphosate, at the State of Paraná, and establish its alternative control. It was collected biotypes suspected resistance in municipalities located in the West, Midwest and Northwest […]

Successive and arbitrary application of glyphosate may cause cases of intoxication in humans by indirect ingestion, since transgenic soybeans present levels above the permitted for this herbicide. The objective of this study was to evaluate the glyphosate and aminomethyl phosphonic acid (AMPA) levels in genetically modified soybeans tolerant to glyphosate. The chosen experimental design was composed by random blocks of eight treatments and four replications. Treatments consisted in glyphosate, applied only once and singly in doses of 720 and 960 […]

Volatilization plays an important role in the process of herbicide dispersion in the environment. The physicochemical characteristics of the clomazone molecule indicate its volatility potential. The present study aimed to evaluate the volatilization rate of three clomazone formulations under field conditions using indicator plants and wind tunnels. Transparent polyethylene tunnels were placed on a sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) field parallel to the prevalent wind direction, and the herbicide formulations were applied in plastic trays containing 10 kg of sieved soil and […]

Chemical weed control in sorghum crop is limited by the low quantity of herbicides registered for the crop. Studies on the effects and effectiveness of herbicides in sorghum crop are essential to increase alternatives for the control of weeds. In this context, the present study was to evaluate the effect of intoxication caused by herbicides in sorghum, as well as the effectiveness of these for weed control. The experiment was conducted the field in a randomized block design, evaluating eight […]

In herbicides spraying, used as ripeners, should be considered the presence of crops growing in adjacent areas, due to the risk of drift of these products. In this context, assuming the sensitivity of corn to this ripener, the aim of this research was to evaluate the effect of glyphosate sublethal rates in corn when applied to V4 and V8 stages of development. The experiment was conducted in Jataí, GO, consisted of 10 treatments established in randomized blocks design where the […]
