Weed Scientist at Corteva Agriscience in Indianapolis, US, working in early herbicide discovery. He earned his Ph.D. in Weed Science from Colorado State University in 2023, focusing on the identification, validation, and regulation of cytochrome P450 genes in HPPD-resistant Palmer amaranth populations. His research also elucidated the role of cytochrome P450 reductase in the mechanism of herbicide metabolic resistance. During his Ph.D., he completed an internship at Bayer CropScience in Frankfurt, Germany. Carlos holds an M.Sc. in the same field from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil, completed in 2019, and a Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy from the Federal University of Santa Maria in Frederico Westphalen, RS, Brazil. His academic journey includes a sandwich period split between the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology and Hochschule Neubrandenburg in Germany from 2013 to 2015, broadening his global perspective on agricultural sciences.
